我从来就不讳言我对欧美电影的偏爱，不是说什么想在艺术电影和商业电影上一争高下。于我而言，一部电影——好看才是硬道理。大概跟个人喜好有关，欧洲电影人对于画面质感、艺术语言的坚持一直深得我心。我喜欢所有认真、专注的人，以及他们的作品。
前些年的《梦与鸟飞行》（或者有译《鸟的迁徙》）已经让人对法国人拍摄记录片的匠心独具感受深刻，那一段勇气与梦想的旅程让人觉得由衷的震撼。摄制组300多人长达三年的跟踪拍摄，展示给我们最为真实的候鸟迁徙征程。看完了心灵的那种激荡还不时让我忆起，没想到这么快又能看到更为精彩的《帝企鹅日记》。我想说的是这次我不止是激动那么简单，这真的是一部伟大的电影。
因为自身的孤傲与相对而言稍显硕大的身躯，南极的这一特殊族群被人们称做——帝企鹅。他们的脖颈上有一圈漂亮的金色羽毛，更显神圣、威武。当然这只是相对而言，看到他们在漫无边际的冰雪上滑稽地摇晃前行，我还是要被他们的滑稽、可爱逗笑起来。
神妙莫测的南极，那一片无垠的洁白实在是美丽惊人。影片开头的大全景让我不得不惊叹不已，等到帝企鹅们从冰隙中登陆地面的时候，故事正式开始。曾看到报道说，为了等待这个企鹅上岸的镜头，摄制组苦守了三个月。
弃水登岸的帝企鹅在水边等待同伴们的陆续到来，集合完毕，开始他们每年一度的生命之旅。数以千记的帝企鹅排着整齐的队列浩浩荡荡向寒冷的南极洲南部进发，那里极度严寒、没有食物，唯一有的就是安全。笨拙的帝企鹅只有在那片荒芜之地才能躲过天敌的侵袭，安全地繁殖后代。

本片被超过二分之一的法国人观赏过，在北美上映的单周票房超过了阿汤哥的《世界大战》，有望成为历史上票房排名第二的记录片。整个摄制组筹划、拍摄的时间长达三年，在南极待了13个月，从120个小时的素材带里剪辑出了这部85分钟的影片。全片采用拟人化的配音，虚拟了一个三口之家。本片在8月12日起全国共映，配音演员是何炯、陶红和胡静。（虽然我觉得大可不必，电影的原音并不出彩，对于这样一部片子来说，一切画外音都显得多余）
但是，这些都不是我想建议你看它的原因。很多影评人建议父母应该带着孩子观赏本片，我要说的是不仅仅是小孩，这是一部适合所有人看的电影。在这个酷暑的时刻，亲眼看见在那片广袤的冰雪天地里，一群笨拙的企鹅顽强地用他们的生命为我们展示了幸福的真谛，他们的毅力、坚持和执著让我们懂得了——大爱无声！
